SECRET STYLED BY UNY STUDENTS, WON 2ND PLACE AT THE ENTREPRENTURE CLASS COMPETITION AN ANNUAL EVENT OF BEMP ELEKTRO, JAKARTA STATE UNIVERSITY

Fast fashion is characterized by fast-changing fashion trends with low clothing prices that encourage consumers to buy more new clothes. The issue of high interest in fast fashion has resulted in a huge surge in the volume of second-hand clothing imports in Indonesia. In Indonesia, the amount of used clothing waste reaches about 1.7 million tons every year and continues to increase over time. By 2022, the volume of collected used clothing waste will reach 2.3 million tons. Clothing imports in Indonesia reached 2.25 million tons, causing continuous damage to the natural environment.

A team of students from Yogyakarta State University consisting of Mustika Natalia from Sociology Education Study Program, Alifia Salsabiila from Economics Education Study Program, Asni Muslimah from Fashion Engineering Education Study Program, Hasna Putri Nurlaila from Geography Education Study Program and Novita Dewi Sulistyowati from Fashion Engineering Education Study Program, made Secret Styled products.

Secret Styled is a clothing business that focuses on combining culture and environmental awareness. We use basic materials from used clothing and unused batik cloth from Yogyakarta. Secret Styled makes innovative modifications, namely mix and match and customade methods. The basic material of used clothing that has been sorted properly and professionally to maintain the quality of clothing products.Packaging is environmentally friendly (sustainable clothing boxes and burlap as product wrapping).

This work won 2nd place in the Entrepreneur Class competition an Annual Event of BEMP Elektro State University of Jakarta which was attended by various state and private campuses. This is one of UNY's efforts in the sustainable development agenda in the field of natural environment and cultural value heritage.
