ZWCAD and ZW3D Introduction Seminar at Faculty of Engineering UNY

Monday, May 20, 2024 an Introduction Seminar to ZWCAD and ZW3D Software was held at KPLT, Faculty of Engineering UNY. The event, which was initiated by the Department of Mechanical Engineering Education UNY and the ZWSOFT Indonesia Company, was attended by around 150 participants consisting of students and lecturers from the Department of Mechanical Engineering Education and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering Education. ZWSOFT itself is a company that produces all in one software in the fields of CAD, CAE, and CAM since 2011. The organization of this event began when one of the students of the Manufacturing Engineering S1 Study Program, DPTM FT UNY, namely Faisal Nugraha, won the ZWSOFT Competition in the field of CAD ZW3D at the international level in October 2023. Based on this achievement, ZWSOFT Indonesia provided 102 free licenses of ZW3D and ZWCAD software.

Achmad Arifin, S.Pd., M.Eng., Ph.D, one of the lecturers of the Department of Mechanical Engineering said that the seminar was held as a follow-up to the University Donation by ZWSOFT Company to the Faculty of Engineering UNY to introduce CAD/CAM-based software to students and lecturers. In the event, the Donation Agreement was also signed between Prof. Dr. Mutiara Nugraheni, S.TP., M.Si. as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering UNY and Mr. Patrick Zi, Country Manager of Indonesia/Australia/New Zealand ZWSOFT. Dean Prof. Dr. Mutiara Nugraheni, S.TP., M.Si. hopes that in the future the collaboration between the ZWSOFT Company and the campus will be better established and can increase the level of student competence.

In its application, ZWCAD and ZW3D have advantages as all-in-one software that is complete and integrated with various types of simulation applications, such as thermal fluid simulation, mechanics, BIM, and so on. Dr. Apri Nuryanto, S.Pd., S.T., M.T. said that, in the future, ZWCAD and ZW3D application software will be applied as learning media in CAD2D and CAD/CAM courses in the Department of Mechanical Engineering Education in stages.
